Buckstein Claims All-ECC Baseball Second Team Accolades

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (May 9, 2018) - After a regular-season war of attrition in which he pitched better than his record indicated, Queens College right-hander Dennis Buckstein was named to the All-East Coast Conference Second Team for baseball on Wednesday (May 9).

The Dowling product went 3-6 this season in ten starts and thirteen appearances, tossing three complete games with an earned-run average of 3.99. Buckstein surrendered 29 earned runs and 62 hits in 65.1 innings pitched with a strikeout-per-nine ratio of 8.13 which ranked second on the squad among starting pitchers. The junior won back-to-back decisions in the Knights' wins over Assumption and Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Mar. 17 and 24. Against the Greyhounds, Buckstein went nearly eight innings with nine strikeouts while yielding only two runs on six hits. He tossed five innings of a seven-inning shutout with ten strikeouts in a victory over conference foe Mercy back on Apr. 14.
