Watters Leads Knights in Summer Baseball Leagues Through Third Week of June

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Jun. 19, 2018) - Brian Watters and teammate Robert Amato have shined through the first few weeks of summer collegiate baseball on Long Island. Andrew Banfield is back with more on their progress and the rest of the Knights in the ranks of summer ball.

In the Long Island Sound's June 13 matchup against the New York Redbirds, rising freshman pitcher Bryan Krolikowski pitched three innings and gave up four earned runs, five hits, and two walks. Krolikowski finished the game with one strikeout, a 4.67 earned run average, and a 1.33 walks plus hits per innings pitched. In three games so far, the pitcher has accumulated one start, one save, and three strikeouts while giving up only six hits, two walks, and a 4.66 ERA.

Also in the LICBL, senior Robert Amato pitched three innings for the Long Island Storm in a game against the New York Hurricanes and Queens College head coach Chris Reardon on June 14th. The senior gave up just one hit and five walks, besting his coach 6-2, finishing with a save, and recording an ERA of zero to go along with five strikeouts. Amato has an ERA of zero on the season as well, with one save, nine strikeouts, only three hits, and nine walks in six innings of play.

In other news for the Long Island Storm, Senior Infielder Brian Watters went one for two against the Long Island NorEasters with one double, two walks, and two runs scored. At this point in the season, Watters is batting .421 with eight hits in nineteen at bats, four runs batted in, eight runs scored, seven walks, and three stolen bases.

In the highly competitive Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League (HCBL), Eric Roubal, a junior infielder for the Long Island Road Warriors, has continued to help fortify his team's defense with dependable fielding. He has tallied four hits, four runs, three RBIs, four walks, and a stolen base over the course of the season.

Another Knight in the HCBL, junior pitcher Dylan Hughes, recorded the last out of the game to seal a 10-1 Shelter Island Bucks victory over the Long Island Road Warriors. Hughes has an era of 1.08 on the season with one start, four strikeouts, five hits, and one walk in 8.1 innings pitched.
