ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - Senior forward Khalil McDonald (Queens Village, N.Y.) scored a team-high 19 points Saturday afternoon at Quealy Gymnasium, moving to within eight markers of 1,000 for his illustrious four-year career as the Queens College men's basketball team narrowly fell at East Coast Conference foe Molloy College, 59-53.
McDonald will look to become the 25th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point mark Wednesday night (Feb. 1), when they Knights play host to ECC opponent St. Thomas Aquinas College at Fitzgerald Gymnasium. Tip-off on National Girls and Women in Sports Day and Faculty Appreciation Day is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Fellow senior Edil Lacayo (Bronx, N.Y.) added nine points for Queens, which held a 33-32 halftime advantage, while sophomore forward Pat Piasecki (Coram, N.Y.) contributed eight points and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Jeremiah Mordi (Valley Stream, N.Y.; team-high eight rebounds) and junior Daniel Watson (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.; seven caroms) poured in seven points apiece for the visitors.
