Second Half Comeback Stops MBB At Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. - The Queens College men's basketball team suffered a 73-70 setback to Bridgeport Saturday afternoon in East Coast Conference action on the road.  The Knights fall to 9-14 overall, and 7-11 in league play with the loss.  The Purple Knights are now 13-12 overall and 10-7 in ECC action.

Junior Tyree White posted a game high 24 points, his ninth 20 point scoring effort of the season.  White connected on nine of his field goal attempts, and picked up five points from the charity stripe.  Seniors Paul Little and Travis Whitfield each registered 11 points in the game.

Despite outshooting the Purple Knights, Bridgeport forced 21 trips to the free throw line, and knocked down 18 attempts.  The Knights led for the majority of the contest, taking their biggest lead, 56-39, with 12:17 remaining in the second half.

The Purple Knights chipped away and jumped ahead 71-70, on a three-pointer by Devon Elliott with three seconds remaining.  Montana Mayfield then clinched the game with two free throws with two seconds remaining.

The Knights are back in action Friday evening at home against Roberts Wesleyan.  Tip is slated for 7:30 pm.
