FLUSHING, N.Y. - The Queens College men's basketball team completed its 2015-16 campaign with a 71-56 victory over Daemen Sunday afternoon at Fitzgerald Gymnasium.
In his final contest for the Knights, senior Travis Whitfield tied for the game high with 19 points, to go along with nine rebounds and two steals. Junior Tyree White completed his standout first season with QC, tallying a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Diego Maldonado was the final Knight in double figures with 14 points.
In a first period that included five ties and four lead changes, the turning point of the contest came late in the stanza. With the game even at 21, the Knights closed out the period with nine straight points.
QC scored the second half's first five points to open up a 14-point lead, 35-21. Queens opened up its biggest lead of the contest, 71-47, with 3:41 remaining.
The Knights held the Wildcats to a 16-53 performance from the field, and turned 18 turnovers into 25 points. QC held a 48-20 advantage on points in the paint, and 23-9 on second chance points.
Jaleo Wilkes led Daemen with 15 points. Queens completes its season with a 11-14 record, its most since the 2012-13 campaign.
