NEW YORK, N.Y. – Senior Tyree White of the Queens College men's basketball team was named to the All-Met Division II Men's Basketball Second Team, as the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association announced its year-end awards on Friday.
White picks up second team honors for the second consecutive season after a strong senior campaign for the Knights this past season. It is his second year-end accolade of the season, as White was tabbed as a first team all-conference selection by the East Coast Conference (ECC) last month.
He led the Knights in nearly every major category, including scoring, rebounding, assists and steals. White averaged 16.5 points per game on an impressive 58.7 percent clip from the field, while adding 9.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.2 steals per contest. He was a consistent contributor for Queens, scoring in double figures in all 26 games, while posting 11 double-doubles.
White concludes his career with the Knights with 833 points and 453 rebounds over two seasons. He averaged 16.3 points, 8.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game for his career. White was the first All-ECC First Team selection for Queens since the 2010-11 season.
Queens finished with its most wins since 2010-11 with a 13-13 record this season. The Knights also went 10-8 in ECC play, the team's most conference wins since 2012-13, and made their first ECC Tournament appearance since 2013-14.
The All-Met honorees will be recognized on Wednesday, April 26, at the 84th annual NIT/MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, N.Y.
