Knight's season ends at C.W. Post

Knights playoff hopes were shot down by the Pioneers on Saturday in Brookville as they fell 2-0 to C.W. Post. With the loss the Knight's season comes to an end as they fall to 5-12-1 (3-3-1 ECC) and the Pioneers improve to 7-8-1 (4-3 ECC).

The Knights could have won or tied C.W. Post and still would have gotten into the ECC playoffs, on the other hand the Pioneers in a must win scenario stepped up to the plate beating the Knights 2-0 and earning the fourth seed in the ECC tournament. QC missed opportunities early on when Metri Abdul-Karim and Danny Stoker missed chances to score.  C.W. Post got on the board first when Rumen Kerkov connected on a header from teammate Eirik Bjoernoe in the 26th minute. Queens out shot post 7-6 but were unlucky not to connect.

The second half was more of the same with both teams trading shots with the Knights knowing that they had to get on the board. A Header by Danny Stoker in the 62nd minute was saved by goalie Marco Jorgensen followed by another shot from teammate Metri Abdul-Karim . Two quick fouls by each team, the last by Queens giving C.W. Post a free kick ended up being crucial. With a long ball served by C.W. Post's Eirik Bjoernoe, teammate Neil Franco connected on a header to make the score 2-0 in favor of  the home team. The Knight's Austin Bennett almost cashed in on a header of his own at the 83:58 mark as his attempt went off the post. Queens College's last chance to score came in the 88th minute when Dele Akinyode's header was saved by Jorgensen.

With the loss the Knight's season comes to an end, falling one tie short of making the playoffs. Failure to finish shots plagued the Knights all season and showed Saturday versus C.W. Post.
