Stoker Named Daktronics Men's Soccer All-America Honorable Mention
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Daktronics, Inc., released its 2011 NCAA Division II All-America Men's Soccer Teams Wednesday afternoon, and Queens College junior defender, Danny Stoker (London, England) was tabbed as an honorable mention selection following a standout campaign in which he lifted the Knights to the East Coast Conference Championships for the third time in four seasons.
This marks the second straight year that a member of Queens has been tabbed on the Daktronics All-America team, as defender Brian Buckmire '11 garnered third-team accolades in his senior season.
A three-time ECC all-conference performer (first team in 2010, '11; second team and Rookie of the Year in '09), Stoker was named the conference's Player of the Week on three occasions (one offensive, two defensive) this season. He led the team with 13 goals on the 19-game campaign (tied for 25th in Division II), and after shifting to a central defender position one-third of the way through the season, helped QC to eight shutouts and a 550-minute shutout streak. Stoker also holds national ranks in goals per game (0.68, No. 34), total points (27, No. 38) and points per game (1.42, No. 48).
