Toth Named ITA East Region Senior Player of the Year
SKILLMAN, N.J. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its regional award winners recently, and Queens College men's tennis student-athlete, Attila Toth (Budapest, Hungary) took home the East Region's Senior Player of the Year honors.
Toth wrapped up the 25th-ranked Knights' stay in the NCAA Division II Round of 16 with records of 16-6 (.727) in singles play at the No. 1 flight, and a 27-8 mark (.771) in top-flight doubles action. The 2011-12 Queens College Male Most Valuable Player selection achieved national rankings, to date, of No. 17 and 16 in singles and doubles (along with junior Nikolaj Wulff), respectively, while also advancing to the USTA/ITA Small College Championships in doubles play after taking home the USTA/ITA East Region crown in the fall.
In his two-year career in a Knights uniform, Toth, a 2010-11 All-America selection by the ITA, went 37-8 (.822) in singles play, and 47-12 (.797) in doubles action.
