    For the second year in a row, senior Sharvill Nawghre of the Queens College men’s tennis team has been selected as the East Coast Conference (ECC) Men’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as the ECC announced its Scholar-Athletes of the Year on Wednesday.

    Queens College head women’s tennis coach Alan Nagel and men’s and women’s assistant coach Fabio Minami have been honored with regional awards from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Nagel was named Wilson/ITA East Region Coach of the Year, while Minami earned East Region ITA Assistant Coach of the Year for both men and women.

    The Intercollegiate Tennis Association recently released its first round of 2016-17 Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings at the both the national and regional level. The Queens College men's tennis team is ranked second overall in the East, behind reigning ECC Champion NYIT. After winning East Regional ITA Championship this past fall, the pairs team of junior Roman Laga (Baiersbronn, Germany) and senior Sharvill Nawghre (Nagpur, India) are ranked 11th nationally and first in the East.
