Men's Track and Field Picked Seventh in ECC Preseason Poll, Women Slotted Eighth

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (Dec. 7, 2017) - The Queens College men's and women's track and field teams will have an uphill battle to begin their season, according to the East Coast Conference's indoor track and field preseason poll released on Wednesday (Dec. 6). The QC men's track and field team was selected seventh out of eight schools in the conference while the women's team was picked eighth out of nine schools in the ECC tally.

The Knights return four total All-Conference recipients from last year's squads, including three on the women's side. DaMira Banks was a triple-award winner for Queens and will look to defend her ECC championship in the 60-meter hurdles later this season. Banks was a Second-Team All-ECC honoree in the 60-meter dash and 4 x 400-meter relay, as well. Diana Cruz also returns for QC on the women's side; Cruz was runner-up in the 800-meter run and was a part of the 4 x 400-meter relay along with returner Terrilyn Britton.

For the men's team, the lone returning All-ECC medalist is Jacob Lascano who was part of the Second-Team all-conference 4 x 400-meter relay in the men's races.

The Knights begin the 2017-18 track and field season on Saturday (Dec. 9) at the Yale Season Opener in New Haven, Conn.
