Bay Selected ECC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. – The East Coast Conference announced its first men's cross country weekly awards of the 2011 season Monday afternoon, and Queens College freshman standout Tyler Bay was tabbed as Rookie of the Week after placing first in his opening collegiate race.

Bay’s (Woodhaven, N.Y.) collegiate debut was a successful one, as he completed the 8,000 meter Baruch Invitational in a gold-medal time of 28:39. His mark was 34 seconds faster than the next-closest competitor – teammate and junior Max Gazzara.

Head coach Greg Welch’s Knights are back in action Saturday morning (Sept. 17), when they travel to Brookville, N.Y., for the 10:30 a.m., C.W. Post Invitational.
