Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The Queens College women's lacrosse team closed out its 2014 campaign with an 15-2 loss to Molloy from the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre on Saturday. Taylor Martello scored both of QC's goals in the game.
The game got off to a slow start as neither side could get on the board in the first fourteen minutes of action. Finally, with 15:36 left in the half, Martello opened the scoring with an unassisted goal that put Queens ahead, 1-0.
The Lions tied the game about 90 seconds later. They went on to score nine unanswered goals in the first half, including three inside of the last three minutes. Molloy led at the half, 9-1.
The Lions opened the second half by scoring four straight goals to take a 13-1 lead. Queens' doubled its score with just over 11 minutes left when Martello found the back of the net for the second time. Molloy scored two more the rest of the way and won 15-2.
Besides Martello's two goals, she had a team-high three ground balls. Ashley Mayer had a caused turnover.
The team closed out the season with a 2-11 record with two East Coast Conference victories.
