Women's Swimming and Diving Kicks Off Campaign Versus Bridgeport

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Freshman Sonya Robinson won the one-meter diving event with a mark of 118 points, while the 200-yard medley relay team placed second with a time of 2:00.70 Friday night at Fitzgerald Natatorium, as the Queens College women's swimming and diving team opened up its season with a 112-93 defeat at the hands of visiting University of Bridgeport.

The Knights, who boast just four upperclassmen on head coach Alicia Lampasso-Dillon's roster, saw freshman Emina Kadrich (Astoria, N.Y.), junior Briana Meehan (Levittown, N.Y.), junior Sissi Ribeiro (Sao Lourenco, Brazil) and senior Angela Parra (Sunnyside, N.Y.) team up to register the 200 medley relay time. Kadich swam to a 1:07.02, second-place mark in the 100-yard backstroke, while Meehan (28.76) placed second in the 50-yard freestyle. Additionally, the 200-yard freestyle relay of freshman Kaitlyn Schlesinger (Massapequa, N.Y.), sophomore Nicole Orsino (Staten Island, N.Y.), sophomore Kelsey Purcell (New York, N.Y.) and freshman Marisol Guzman (Elmhurst, N.Y.) placed second in a 2:00.33 time.

Head coach Alicia Lampasso-Dillon's Knights are back in action at home on Wednesday (Nov. 2), when they play host to the Pioneers of C.W. Post in a 5 p.m. dual meet.
