Alan Zhu is in his second year as assistant coach for the Queens College women's swimming and diving team, and will also double in the 2011-12 campaign as an assistant for head coach Jeremy Cuebas's men's swimming and diving program. Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., Zhu was a three-time member of the New York City PSAL all-star team and still holds multiple swimming records for Brooklyn Technical High School. From there he moved on to Division I Binghamton where he was a member of their varsity swim team in 2003-04.

Zhu served as an assistant coach at the LaGuardia Aquatic Club for three years and has taught and coached many US National Group record holders, national qualifiers, a junior national champion, a National Age Group Top-16 and an Olympic Trial qualifier. The three-time Empire State Games qualifier is also the owner and head instructor at the American Swimming Learning Center (ASLC) in Brooklyn that has over 400 students per semester.
