Leonard's Dominance Earns Her Second ECC Field Athlete of the Week Honor; Neunie and Saulpaugh on Honor Roll

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (Aug. 16, 2018) - The Queens College track and field teams had yet another great weekend highlighted on Monday (Aug. 16) as the East Coast Conference awarded three accolades to the Knights with Erin Leonard garnering another Field Athlete of the Week mention.

Leonard was the lone competitor to eclipse the 40-meter mark in the hammer throw at the Queensborough Relays, winning the event with a toss of 40.67 meters. The freshman also claimed a victory in the discus throw with a toss of 30.95 meters.

Nakeema Neunie and Andrew Saulpaugh both earned Spots on the ECC Weekly Honor Roll. Neunie ran increasingly well throughout the day for the Knights at the Queensborough Relays on Saturday. The sophomore was part of the winning 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relay squads while also representing QC well with a third-place time of 5:17.16 in the 1500-meter race. Meanwhile, Saulpaugh continued his sensational rookie campaign for the Knights in the field, winning both the discus and hammer throw events at the Queensborough Relays. The freshman had a hammer throw of 46.85 meters which was a full eight meters further than his nearest competitor, and his 34.70-meter showing in the discus was just over six meters better than the second-place finisher.

The Knights will compete this weekend in the East Coast Conference Championship meet in Amherst, N.Y. this Saturday (Apr. 21).
